Property Tax Litigator
In March or April of Every year…
Property owners will receive notices of their property value appraisals done by their county appraisal district. Those initial values are often based on a system of mass appraisal basis, and can often result in an inaccurate determined value. Property owners have until a deadline, often May 15, to file a protest to their initial determined value. Many consultants can help with that process, and we’d be happy to refer or help you with that initial process. If, after the protest process through the appraisal district, a property owner is not satisfied with the valuation, they can appeal an improper appraisal by filing a lawsuit against the appraisal district. Many property owners choose this route to ensure their property is valued correctly and ensure the ongoing success of their business or enterprise. A property owner must file a lawsuit in a timely and appropriate manner as required by the Tax Code - that’s where the Property Tax Litigator comes in! Given the various legal arguments available under property tax laws, the best argument and strategy for a particular client and property owner may differ depending on the unique characteristics of the property, the appraisal district, and legislation currently in effect. A trusted property tax attorney can guide you through the appeals process, helping you present your strongest position and making sure that you understand the legal landscape. Litigation involves many complex rules and limitations, and property owners typically only have one chance each year to appeal an unfavorable assessment. For this reason, it is essential that an appeal is conducted the right way. We help commercial & economically viable residential property owners appeal erroneous and unfavorable appraisals.
